Dashboards
Dashboards in Elairo provide a powerful, centralized view of your key performance indicators (KPIs), OKRs, tasks, and more. They allow you to visualize critical data, track progress at a glance, and make informed decisions. This guide will walk you through creating and customizing your own dashboards.
Creating Your First Dashboard
To create a new dashboard:
Navigate to the Dashboards section in the main navigation. You can usually find this on the left-hand sidebar or a prominent navigation bar.
Click the "Create New Dashboard" button, typically located in the top-right corner or a similar prominent position.
A dialog box will appear asking for a name for your dashboard. Choose a descriptive name, such as "Marketing Team Performance" or "Q3 Sales Overview."
Optionally, you can add a brief description to clarify the dashboard's purpose.
Click "Save". Your new, empty dashboard will now appear.
Adding Widgets to Your Dashboard
Widgets are the building blocks of your dashboard, displaying specific data points or charts.
With your dashboard open, click the "Add Widget" button. This is usually located near the top of the dashboard area.
A sidebar or modal will appear, presenting a list of available widget types. Elairo offers a variety of widgets, including:
KPI Widgets: Display individual KPIs with their current value and progress.
OKR Progress Widgets: Show the overall progress of specific OKRs or collections of OKRs.
Task Widgets: Summarize task status, overdue tasks, or progress on sprints and backlogs.
Chart Widgets: Visualize data from KPIs, OKRs, or other modules using various chart types.
Text/Markdown Widgets: Add informational text, titles, or explanations to your dashboard.
(Dependent on integrations) Widgets for integrated services like project management tools or CRMs.
Select the desired widget type.
Configure the widget settings. This step is crucial and varies depending on the widget type:
For KPI Widgets: You'll typically select which specific KPI you want to display.
For OKR Progress Widgets: You might choose specific OKRs, teams, or time periods.
For Chart Widgets: You'll select the data source (e.g., a specific KPI, an OKR's Key Results, or a collection of tasks), the metrics to display, and the chart type.
For Task Widgets: You might filter by assignee, project, status, or due date.
Click "Add" or "Save Widget" to place the widget on your dashboard.
Configuring Widget Content and Chart Types
When adding or editing a chart widget, you'll have options to configure its appearance and the data it represents.
Data Source Selection: Choose the primary data source for your chart (e.g., "All Sales KPIs," "Q4 Marketing OKRs," "Tasks for Team Alpha").
Metrics: Select the specific metrics you want to plot (e.g., "Current Value," "Target Value," "Completion Rate," "Number of Tasks Complete").
Chart Type: Elairo offers several chart types to best represent your data:
Line Chart: Ideal for showing trends over time (e.g., KPI progress week-over-week).
Bar Chart: Great for comparing discrete categories or showing quantities (e.g., sales per product, tasks completed per team member).
Pie/Donut Chart: Useful for illustrating proportions of a whole (e.g., task status breakdown: completed, in progress, open).
Gauge Chart: Excellent for showing progress towards a single target (often used for individual KPI progress).
Table: Displays raw data in a structured, readable format.
Timeframes/Filters: Apply filters to focus your data, such as "Last 30 days," "Current Quarter," or "Specific Team."
Tip: Choose the chart type that most clearly communicates the insight you want to convey. A line chart for a single data point is less effective than a gauge, for example.
Arranging and Resizing Widgets
Once widgets are on your dashboard, you can customize their layout:
Drag and Drop: Click and hold a widget, then drag it to a new position on the dashboard. This allows you to organize your information logically.
Resize: Hover over the bottom-right corner of a widget until a resize handle appears. Click and drag to adjust the widget's width and height.
Sharing Your Dashboards
Dashboards can be shared to ensure everyone has access to critical performance information.
Open the dashboard you wish to share.
Click the "Share" button, usually found in the top-right corner of the dashboard alongside "Add Widget" or "Edit."
A sharing dialog will appear. You'll typically have options to:
Share with Specific Users/Teams: Select individual users or entire teams/departments from a dropdown list.
Set Permissions: Determine if shared users can only view the dashboard or also edit its widgets and layout. Be cautious with edit permissions, especially for general team dashboards, to prevent accidental changes.
Make Public (within Elairo): This option might be available to make the dashboard visible to all users in your Elairo account.
Click "Apply" or "Share Dashboard."
Best Practice: Create a central "Company Performance" dashboard and share it with "View" access to everyone. Then, create team-specific dashboards and share those with relevant teams. Regularly review who has access to your dashboards to maintain appropriate data visibility.
